Alani and I did our first makeup/fashion/glam shoot with our dear friend Ali Pohanka.  I got this printed a week or so ago, and plan on putting it up in either my new house or my office next year.  More photos from the Ali shoot are on my Flickr.

Maya Coleman was another one of the Alani/Ma’ayan team fashion shoots.  My brother Ben did some great lighting for us, too.  This was one of the most successful fashion shoots we did this year… Maya seemed to be an inspiration for us all.  More photos of Maya are at my Flickr.

Emily Baker-White is a fellow sandwich creator pal of mine from our campus cafe.  She inquired about headshots, which Alani and I agreed to do as long as we had the opportunity to do some great glam makeup afterwards.  It was a pretty awesome shoot, heavy on the alien British mod makeup.  For more photos of Emily, check out my Flickr.

Not only do I like this photo a lot, nutmeg is my favorite spice.  I did a series of spice and ingredient still life photos a few years ago, and this one keeps on popping up.  I made a print of it a few weeks ago and I plan to hang it in my kitchen next year.

Contrast and sky, one of the things Oberlin excels at. Taken sometime in the winter, but popped up again since I just made another print order.

Food. Dinner. Summer rolls. Realized I forgot to cook the noodles as I was cutting the rolls in half. Still good. Filled with soy-ginger tofu, green onions, basil, cilantro, cucumbers, and red peppers. Eaten with homemade peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce.

Actually, this photo stemmed from a thing I dislike, thunderstorms. Ohio had the CRAZIEST weather this evening, and between two of the storms, we had sepia-toned lighting from the sunset behind the rainclouds, and a eerily gorgeous rainbow spanning around the eastern part of the sky. To the west, the clouds were textured like satin, but that meant more rain.

One of the best days in Oberlin is the Doggie Doo Parade.  We college students can’t have pets, so this is a heavenly day.  This pup was a few weeks old, and was a complete ham for the camera.
(Not only is this one of my favorite photos, I’m submitting it to Photojojo’s Daily Pic Pick photo contest! Today’s theme is Beginnings.)

After brunch and some cleaning, I was texted by Michael asking if I wanted to roadtrip with him to Detroit to pick up his car and say hi to his family. I love summer weekends, because freedom and nothing to do allowed me to say yes. We left around 3:30pm, ranted and sang and told stories the whole way there, ate a speedy dinner with the Bricker clan in Detroit, and then turned around and was home by 9pm.  This is one of the bridges on the way (can’t remember its name, damn).

I crave fresh tomato sauce with basil in the summer. I chopped up all the tomatoes I had and cooked them down with a ton of basil, olive oil, and onions and served it on top of spaghetti with parmesan.  This meal is my comfort food, even if it isn’t the coolest dish I could eat.

Brandi and I made dinner and wrote again this evening for the second weekly BlogNFeed (cook, eat, write blog posts).  Tonight’s menu: fresh basil pesto with pesto and green peas and sweet corn.  I also made a short video about this evening to supplement an Oberlin blog post.
